The most frequently altered cognitive domains are sustained attention, speed of information processing, abstract reasoning, executive functions, and long-term verbal and visual memory. In a recent study, persons with newly diagnosed MS are more likely to have subtly CI than controls regardless of race/ethnicity. The CI is more common in advanced stages of the disease, although it can occur at any time. Exceptionally, CI is the first manifestation of MS, and these patients develop a progressive cognitive deterioration from the beginning of the disease. The presence of cognitive and psychological difficulties in people with MS contributes more to withdrawal from work and unemployment than physical disability. Įpidemiological studies reported frequencies of cognitive impairment (CI) in patients with MS between 40 and 70% of subcortical profiles. īesides, motor and autonomic symptoms, MS was verified to have a higher risk of developing a wide range of psychobehavioral disorders, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, sleep disorders, schizophrenia, and other psychotic disorders, all of which share cognitive decline. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory and immune-mediated disease of the central nervous system characterized by the development of focal demyelination and neuronal injury in functionally or anatomically related regions involved in cognitive processing such as the white matter, the cerebral cortical and deep gray matter, and the hippocampus. As for the profile of cognitive dysfunction in patients with MS, the domains most frequently failed by the patients were memory, attention, visuospatial learning, and language. The longer the disease duration and the higher the EDSS, the lower the MoCA score and the higher the education level, the higher the MoCA score. MoCA scale has optimal psychometric properties for routine clinical use in patients with MS, even in those with mild functional disability. MoCA was positively correlated with education level but negatively with EDSS and disease duration. CI was higher in those with a longer duration of illness and a high EDSS. Total MoCA scores were lower in patients with CI versus those with intact cognition. MS patients show low total MoCA score than the controls. The Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) was used to assess the degree of disability, and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) scoring system was used to assess cognitive function. This is a case–control study of fifty patients with MS who met the revised 2017 Mc Donald Criteria and fifty age- and sex-matched healthy subjects. We aim to study the influence of MS on cognitive changes. About 40–70% of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) develop cognitive impairment (CI) throughout their life.

There are no normal guild banks that has the needed funds. Or alternatively, just let players acquire shadowfrost shards from day 1 and it wont impact the length, when you finish that quest step, but will still require you to do it to get shadows edge. Meaning most people will have to slowly stock up the amount they need for legendaries with time and will allow it to be better spend on BOEs and much more during the start of the phase and not having people be several weeks behind on the legendary cause they didnt stock up on litterally 100s of thousands of gold or have a whole guild funnel them saronite through everyone donating all their emblems to buy em, which even though i would be able to afford it, it is still in my opinion stupid and pointless for classic as it is. I suggest either moving the saronite requirement to a later part of the questline, such as after the ICC shard acquisition, as compensation. Already having to wait a solid 8-10 weeks on shards is bad enough for legendaries like Smourne and Valanyr, when phases are shorter than original wotlk.īut the huge problem with Smourne over Val anyr is all the added huge gold sinks and ressources dump.Ģ5 primordial saronite is a massive problem as it stands as the first step of the questline, every guild in the game will be trying to get one and effectively cant get a hold of that many saronites for weeks if not more than a month (depending on how hardcore they are). Let me add some information I found a while ago (I cannot remember who provided it to me, or where I found it, but thanks to the original author) What this means is that our time-varying data regularly moves forward as time passes so that we constantly have up-to-date information in our Clarity views.ĭata outside that timeslice definition will not be included/displayed in the portlets that are based on this timeslice.Īll you need to do is decide where you want to place these ‘rulers’ and how long you want them to be. Which means now our "ruler" shows:įeb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec Jan The result means that now our ruler starts on February 1 and finishes on January 31, so we still see 12 months of data but from the new ‘From’ date. So, at the start our ruler’s ‘Rollover Interval’ might be Monthly, and the ‘Expiration’ date might be July 1, which means when that date arrives, our ruler will shift to the right by one month. If your rollover interval is monthly, the Expiration date will change on the first of each month. For custom timeslice you can select the rollover interval. This is the rollover date.įor default timeslices, the interval is set by the system. The ‘Rollover Interval’ represents the amount of time the ruler will move to the right when the ‘Expiration’ĭate is reached. Now factor in the ‘Rollover Interval’ and the ‘Expiration’ date. Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec So let’s imagine that a 12-inch ruler represents 12 months of data that starts on January 1, so you can see data to the end of December 31. The ‘From’ date (where the data starts) and the end of the ruler represents the end of the data window that the ruler represents. Imagine a time slice as a ruler, where the ruler markings are the ‘Slice Period’, the length of the ruler represents the ‘Number of Periods’, the start of the ruler represents This means any data that varies over time, such as Actuals, Allocations, Availability, Baseline, Estimates, and Time Entries. Special thanks goes to Steve Robinson for his work on this. This is a very fundamental aspect of Clarity but there are often questions about time slices, what they are, what the different aspects of their definition mean etc.hence this posting as a reminder/clarifier. Lines of Hades’ dialogue were rewritten and improvisation was welcomed, which caused Hercules to take on a more comic tone. His approach was a breath of fresh air and convinced the directors that the original Hades plan should change. Finally, Woods came into the fold and gifted Hades with a wheeler-dealer whirlwind energy. Clement and Musker continued to portray Hades seriously during auditions that saw actors such as Phil Hartman and John Lithgow read for the part. Regardless, he was still not the first choice for the role after Nicholson. Woods was best known for 1984’s Once Upon A Time In America. Related: Casting Disney's Live-Action Hercules Movie: Who Should StarĪfter a long auditioning process, in which David Bowie and Kevin Spacey were considered, the role eventually went to James Woods, who took Hades’ character in a more comedic direction, akin to a fast-talking car salesman. It was a similar deal to what he received for his role as The Joker in 1989’s Batman, however, Disney refused and Nicholson walked away from the role. Nicholson asked for between $10-15 million, along with 50% of the merchandising money from Hades' goods. Despite the interest, Nicholson’s contract proved a stumbling block. He visited Disney’s development building with his family, where he was shown concept art for the character and test animation of Nicholson’s lines in A Few Good Men. This version of Hades was supposed to be serious and slow-spoken, making use of Nicholson’s signature "purr". The directors, John Musker and Ron Clement, initially wrote Hades’ lines for regular Tim Burton collaborator Jack Nicholson. The reason for this is unknown. The original plan for Hercules and its titular villain, Hades, was very different at the beginning of production. However, the only times Woods did not voice Hades was his singing voice, which was done by Rob Paulsen, in the song " It's Our House Now!", as well as his appearance in the DuckTales episode " New Gods on the Block!", in which he was instead voiced by Chris Diamantopoulos. So far, he has done so in Hercules: The Animated Series, Hades Challenge, Fantasmic!, House of Mouse, the Kingdom Hearts series, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, Disney's Not So Spooky Spectacular, and World of Color: Villainous. Woods has said in some interviews that he enjoyed voicing Hades so much, that he will always be willing to voice him in any future appearances, regardless of the pay.On right of Hades, Top to Bottom: Nik Ranieri, Lieve Miessen, James DeValera Mansfield, Tom Roth. It's only a matter of time before schools around the English speaking world give up and recognize the following nonsense as being correct in terms of punctuation: I feel sorry for future generations of foreign students learning English as a foreign language who will be told that just because a sentence has a question mark in it, it may not really be a question and sentences that don't have question marks but begin with "question words" may actually be questions. Once we lose the foreign speakers to this nonsense, it's game over for sanity. As a non-native speaker please do not let yourself be fooled by the idiocy on the English speaking internet that has now decided that any time a person is puzzled or confused it makes a sentence into a question. However, what you said is NOT a question. But that solution is already in the thread? Oops. 2022 Vice President Kamala Harris appeared virtually to deliver the keynote address, congratulating the honorees on their awards and linking their work to that of Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1968 during his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination. To give such a speech well requires a deep understanding of the topic, of course, but also a willingness to go beyond one’s specific expertise and point of view to define the entire topic and its possible approaches.Recent Examples on the Web Awards selection committee co-chairs Daniel Dae Kim and Lisa Ling will deliver the gala’s keynote address. I can’t remember the last time I heard a keynote speech actually address those issues. The speech answers the following questions: Why is this topic important? Why are we gathered in this particular way to address this topic? What might we expect the rest of the speakers to cover – what should we, the attendees, be on the lookout for? And what are the most important questions to keep in mind as we talk and think about this topic for the next few days? The ideal keynote speech introduces a topic to an audience at the start of a conference. They are thinking about their company and its place in the world and they want to talk that up more than they typically care about the general topic at hand. And those CEOs have too many tasks to fulfill to do a good job keynoting. If there is such a speech, it’s more often given by the CEO of the company putting on the event, or someone else footing the bill, rather than an outside expert with deep understanding of the topic. With all that going on, a speech that thoroughly and helpfully previews the conference and tells you what to listen for would be very useful, wouldn’t it? Very quickly, you get information-overloaded with new material and begin to wonder how you’re going to remember it all. You rush from session to session, trying to pack as much as possible in, and you fret about not having enough time to network. Making sense of a conference that you attend is hard work. Yet so specialized has the profession of keynote speaking become that few speakers actually are hired to introduce a conference with the specific task of highlighting what the gathering will cover during its several days of existence – and do so in a thought-provoking and argument-provoking way. It should ideally come at the beginning of the conference it addresses, and it should cover the main theme or themes that they conference is about. Or the word gets applied loosely and uselessly to any speech that isn’t a breakout, that takes place in plenary session.Īnd here we begin to find something essential in the idea of a keynote speech. The dictionary definition implies two things mainly: the idea of fundamentality – the keynote establishes, literally, the key in music, and primacy – the keynote comes first.īut that doesn’t happen all the time or even most of the time in conferences today – we sometimes start with a keynote speech, but just as often they come at the end of the gathering. The traditional meaning of the keynote speech was that it began a conference or convocation and outlined the themes to be covered in ways that got the participants talking and thinking along the right lines. They are often present, but no one would seriously argue that they are essential to the keynote. Does giving a keynote speech mean a huge audience, giant IMEG screens, and a booming sound system? Well, those are often involved, when the numbers are large, but there’s nothing essential about those attributes – unless the ego of the speaker demands it.ĭoes a keynote speech necessarily involve slides, video, or other such visual aids? Of course not. Let’s dispense with some of the easy misconceptions first. I ask because keynote speeches take so many forms it seems worth it to ponder the nature of the genre for a few minutes to see if we can find something essential in all those variations. What is a keynote speech? That’s not a trick question. |
